If you lead a team and also find yourself having to manage a change initiative on the side, also called a project, you probably don’t have the time, and need some shortcuts and faster ways of doing it.
It can be frustrating to take project management courses or download tools only to find them overly complicated, cumbersome to use, or not appropriate for managers managing projects.
Many strategies and tools are intended for very large projects with many moving parts and thousands of team members.
However your projects can use simpler, lighter strategies and tools, to get the job done with a lot less effort.
Background
Yes I’m an engineer and a professional PM, but I’ve also held director roles in both small companies and in Fortune 500 firms, and while in those roles I managed projects on the side.
It was frustrating that the only thing available to help were heavy and complex tools for large projects. An approach was needed that delivered only what was required to get the job done, some streamlined and simpler tools.
So I developed simple ways of leading the team, and simple frameworks that captured only what was needed and gradually over time had a set of reliable, simple ways to get the same thing done using a lot less of my time.
Other directors saw that I was having success executing using less time and less paperwork and I taught them the same approaches and templates.
Simple PM Strategies teaches these same strategies and tools to directors and managers. I help anyone who leads a team and also has side projects on their plate and wants to get them done using the least amount of their time each week.
I have been in project and program management for 35+ years, managing 50+ projects, with budgets ranging from several thousand to over 30 million, across 20+ industry segments, and several continents.
My goal is to deliver to you, through blogs with action steps, courses, and coaching, the most effective, simple strategies and tools to help you as a leader get your projects done in less time, using less of your time.
If you need results that get the job done, and don’t have much time to learn, but still need help, then you’ve come to the right place.
